St. Matthew’s was granted Technology College status by the DfES in September 1998.

This means that while St. Matthews offers a broad, balanced curriculum to every pupil there is a strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Mathematics and Information and Communication technology (ICT). We see, ICT in particular, as the key to creating independent learners.

By giving our pupils the relevant skills and familiarity with and access to state-of-the-art ICT equipment we are enabling them to take control of their own learning; to extend the school day beyond the 3.05 p.m. bell; and to consequently raise their achievement to a significant degree.
